Get ready to learn things not traditionally taught to medical doctors! Some of the things you will hear Dr. Buttar and Robert talk about in this week’s show are:

Autism Signs, Symptoms: Things To Know On World Autism Awareness Week 2018 – Monday marks the beginning of World Autism Awareness Week, adopted by the United Nations in 2007 to highlight the growing health crisis globally. The week leading up to April 2 is usually considered as the awareness week. “Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that manifests itself during the first three years of life and results from a neurological disorder that affects the functioning of the brain, mostly affecting children in many countries irrespective of gender, race or socio-economic status, and characterized by impairments in social interaction, problems with verbal and non-verbal communication and restricted, repetitive behavior, interests and activities,” according to the resolution adopted by the U.N. General Assembly on Dec. 18, 2007.
Children with autism less likely to be fully vaccinated, study finds – Children with autism spectrum disorder are significantly less likely to be fully vaccinated than children unaffected by autism, new research finds. And the same is true of their younger sisters and brothers. “This study is showing that children with autism and their younger siblings might be at greater risk of vaccine-preventable diseases,” said Ousseny Zerbo, lead author of the study and a postdoctoral fellow with the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Division of Research. The study was published Monday in the journal JAMA Pediatrics.
Well Over 8 Million U.S. Children Now On Psychiatric Drugs – Not just the U.S., but the rest of the Western world, alarmingly, over the last 15 years the consistently sharp increases in child mental disorders have now reached epidemic levels. 1 in 5 children have been diagnosed with a mental health problem. In turn, more children than ever before are on psychiatric drugs. Could the rise in mental disorders be the result of the agendized push for increased psychiatric drugging that began in and around the 1990s? As mentioned earlier, 1 in 5 children have now been diagnosed with a mental health problem: ADHD (Attention Hyperactivity Disorder) is now well over 40% For children aged between 10-14 years suicide rates have risen by 200% Teenager depression – up at 37%…
We learn nothing about nutrition, claim medical students – Medical students say they currently learn almost nothing about the way diet and lifestyle affect health – and they should be taught more. They say what they are taught is not practical or relevant to most of the medical problems they see in GP surgeries, clinics and hospitals. A leading GP estimated that up to 80% of his patients had conditions linked to lifestyle and diet. These included obesity, type 2 diabetes and depression. Why does this lack of training matter? This year the NHS will spend more than £11bn on diabetes alone – social care costs, time off work etc, will almost double that bill. Type 2 diabetes – the most common kind – is linked to obesity. And right now Britain is the fat man of Europe.
Neuroscientists say daily ibuprofen can prevent Alzheimer’s disease – A Vancouver-based research team led by Canada’s most cited neuroscientist, Dr. Patrick McGeer, has successfully carried out studies suggesting that, if started early enough, a daily regimen of the non-prescription NSAID (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug) ibuprofen can prevent the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. This means that by taking an over-the-counter medication, people can ward off a disease that, according to Alzheimer’s Disease International’s World Alzheimer Report 2016, affects an estimated 47 million people worldwide, costs health care systems worldwide more than US$818 billion per year and is the fifth leading cause of death in those aged 65 or older.
The importance of self-love and how to cultivate it – For many people, the concept of self-love might conjure images of tree-hugging hippies or cheesy self-help books. But, as many psychology studies attest, self-love and -compassion are key for mental health and well-being, keeping depression and anxiety at bay. Most of the time, when we’re being too hard on ourselves, we do it because we’re driven by a desire to excel and do everything right, all the time. This entails a lot of self-criticism, and that persecutory inner voice that constantly tells us how we could’ve done things better is a hallmark of perfectionism. Studies have shown that perfectionists are at a higher risk of several illnesses, both physical and mental, and that self-compassion might free us from its grip. Therefore, perfectionism and self-compassion are inextricably linked.

Get ready to learn things not traditionally taught to medical doctors!
Some of the things you will hear Dr. Buttar and Robert talk about in this week’s show are:

Astronaut’s gene expression no longer same as his identical twin, NASA finds – Spending a year in space not only changes your outlook, it transforms your gene expression. Preliminary results from NASA’s Twins Study reveal that 7% of astronaut Scott Kelly’s genetic expression — how his genes function within cells — did not return to baseline after his return to Earth two years ago. The study looks at what happened to Kelly before, during and after he spent one year aboard the International Space Station through an extensive comparison with his identical twin, Mark, who remained on Earth.

The myth behind adrenal fatigue – Do you feel extremely tired, have body aches or experience sleep disturbances? A simple internet search of these symptoms might bring up a condition called adrenal fatigue. However, Baylor College of Medicine’s Dr. Ruchi Gaba warns against taking this term at face value and explains what might really be going on when you experience these symptoms. “The adrenal glands are small triangular shaped glands located on the top of the kidneys. They are responsible for producing hormones like aldosterone, cortisol, adrenaline and small amounts of sex hormones that help regulate the metabolism, blood pressure and stress response of the body,” said Gaba, assistant professor of medicine in the section of endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at Baylor.

‘Fit Sick’ – The New Term For People Who Look Healthy, But Feel Terrible – We normally assume that when people are a healthy weight and seem to live an active lifestyle, they are getting all of the health benefits that are promised from doing this. It is generally assumed that athletes feel full of energy all the time, and don’t suffer from a lot of the mood and sleep issues that exercise is generally thought to help with, too. However, some doctors are concerned that there is a new phenomenon called being ‘fit sick’, where people appear to be doing all of the right things and look healthy on the outside, but actually feel far less healthy in general. In most cases, it is the healthy diet and the exercise a person is doing that actually cause them to feel unwell. This is not to say that people do not generally feel better when they are doing these things, or that it is better not to do them, but that people who are embarking on these kinds of lifestyle changes need to do them carefully rather than over-stressing their bodies. Many people with high activity levels are actually deficient in important nutrients or have hormone imbalances due to the way their bodies have an increased demand for things their diet doesn’t provide. Equally, people who stick to very rigid diets, either for weight loss in general or because they need to support things like bodybuilding, can be lacking in vital vitamins and minerals, as well as having issues with their gut bacteria.

Journalists’ “Shots” Sometimes Miss Their Mark – Journalism is supposed to be free of political and personal agendas. However, we see news media frequently using pejoratives to label critics of industry/government policy. What purpose does this serve? It certainly doesn’t qualify as fair and unbiased reporting. Marginalizing and demeaning the critics cannot settle any issue; if anything, it’s an unethical means to enable political agendas. One of the most common recent trends is the derogatory use of the term “anti-vaccine.” Now, if I were to voice harsh criticism of Toyota’s handling of their stuck accelerator problems a few years ago, that wouldn’t make me “anti-accelerator,” “anti-car,” or even “anti-Toyota.”  Remember,  Toyota initially denied there were problems with its accelerators; their own investigation showed no evidence of stuck accelerators, they suggested the drivers were to blame—and, after years of denial and a $1.2 million fine, they finally admitted they had misled customers and issued 3 related recalls.

Question of The Day!

Hi Robert Scott Bell, my question of the day would be for you and Dr. Buttar.
My name is Beth and I’m 67 years old and am in very good general health. I contracted AML a year ago, took my rounds of chemo and maintenance and went into remission. My leukemia returned recently after only three months. I am now looking at another round of chemo to go back into remission and then have a bone marrow transplant with the corresponding dangers. What would you suggest I do or add to this regiment to help me fight this?

Some of the things you will hear Dr. Buttar and Robert talk about in this week’s show are:

Dentists keep dying of this deadly lung disease. The CDC can’t figure out why – Seven of the patients were dead, and two more were dying of a rare chronic, progressive lung disease that can be treated but not cured. It’s estimated that about 200,000 people in the United States have Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) at any one time. But the common denominator of a small group of patients at a Virginia clinic over a 15-year period is worrying the Centers for Disease Control: Eight were dentists; a ninth was a dental technician. The dental professionals were 23 times more likely to have IPF than the rest of the population, the CDC said in its Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, released on Friday. Something in their workplace environment may have been poisoning them, investigators said, although they don’t know what.

Environmental exposures more determinant of respiratory health than inherited genetics – Researchers have found strong evidence that environmental exposures, including air pollution, affect gene expressions associated with respiratory diseases much more than genetic ancestry. The study, published today in Nature Communications, analyzed more than 1.6 million data points from biological specimens, health questionnaires and environmental data sets, making this study one of the largest ever to examine the relationship between gene expression and environmental stimuli. These findings represent a groundbreaking use of big data to uncover the environmental factors that are behind diseases and inform strategies for prevention, an approach that would apply to a number of diseases, including cancer.

Map of Consciousness by David Hawkins – Over 250,000 muscle testing calibrations spanning 30 years of multiple research studies conducted by The Institute for Spiritual Research, Inc., Dr. Hawkins defined a range of values that correspond to levels of consciousness which include well-recognized attitudes and emotions. With a logarithmic scale of 1 to 1,000 and the Map of Consciousness® format that he developed, Dr. Hawkins explains the classification and characteristics of these energy fields to make them easily comprehensible and useful in daily life. It is important to realize that the calibration figures do not represent an arithmetic but a logarithmic progression. Thus, the level 300 is not twice the amplitude of 150; it is 300 to the tenth power. An increase of even a few points therefore represents a major advance in power.

New Research Shows Cell Phone Radiation Linked to DNA Damage Brain and Heart Tumours – A recent U.S government-funded study conducted by the NTP (National Toxicology Programme) a division of the NIEHS (National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences) provides even more ammunition for the case that cell phone EMF (electromagnetic field) radiation is linked to cancer by causing brain tumors. However, contrary to popular belief, the new findings indicated that the harm was not brain cancer, per se, nor was this the primary cause. The study, one of the most extensive yet, found that above all, cell phone EMF radiation was linked to DNA damage and heart tumors.

Binge watching TV could increase bowel cancer risk in men – Sitting down to binge watch more
than four hours of TV over a day could increase the risk of bowel cancer in men compared to those watching less than just an hour of TV, according to a paper published in the British Journal of Cancer. In one of the largest studies to date investigating the link between sedentary behavior and risk, researchers analyzed data from more than half a million men and women and found that men who spent less time in front of the TV were also less likely to develop cancer later in life. After six years of follow-up 2,391 people from the UK Biobank study went on to develop bowel cancer. When researchers from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) , Imperial College London and the University of Oxford analysed the data they made the link between sedentary behavior and bowel cancer.

Some of the things you will hear Dr. Buttar and Robert talk about in this week’s show are:

Winter flu jab is ‘poor’ in protecting people from killer ‘Aussie flu’ – The flu jab given to thousands of people in Ireland this winter provided poor protection against one of the main killer strains, a new study reveals. The vaccine was least effective against the A(H3N2) strain – known as ‘Aussie flu’ – which was responsible for around four in 10 deaths from the virus. It was just 8pc effective against this strain among people of all ages, the findings from a study of the jab in nine European countries, including Ireland, revealed. The vaccine provided “moderate” protection against the other major strain circulating, influenza B.

‘Western’ diet associated with respiratory symptoms, COPD – A “Western” diet appears to be associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), respiratory symptoms, and decreased lung function, according to a study published online Feb. 15 in the Annals of the American Thoracic Society. Emily P. Brigham, M.D., from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, and colleagues used data from the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities Study (ARIC; 15,792 participants) to assess associations between dietary pattern and pulmonary assessments.

NIH: Increasing steroids won’t curb kids’ asthma flare-ups – Amping up steroid dosage for children with asthma doesn’t effectively prevent severe flareups, and may even interfere with a child’s growth, according to new research from the National Institutes of Health. The study, funded by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, part of the National Institutes of Health, appers online in the New England Journal of Medicine. According to the state Department of Public Health, in 2014, (the most recent year for which numbers were available) 72,000 (9.6 percent) children and 257,000 (9.2 percent) adults in Connecticut suffered from asthma. In 2014, 8.6 percent of US children and 7.4 percent of US adults had asthma.

Fish Oil And Probiotics During Pregnancy May Slash Childhood Allergies – Taking fish oil and probiotic supplements during pregnancy may cut the risk of childhood allergies. That’s according to a government study that found eczema risk was reduced by 22% in children whose mothers took a probiotic between 36 and 38 weeks of pregnancy. Adding good bacteria to their diet during the first three to six months of breastfeeding also had a similar effect. Meanwhile, mothers who took a daily fish oil supplement after the twentieth week of pregnancy and for up to four months of breastfeeding reduced by 30% the risk of their child developing an egg allergy.

The constitution and the flag

HHS-CRF Needs Response for Vaccine Situations – After speaking with Arina Grossu, the contact for the Conscience and Religious Freedom (CRF) Division at HHS, it was clear vaccine exemptions did not have a place within the online portal for rights investigators to look into.  AND, after querying their team, Arina called me back to tell me, THEY WERE WILLING TO ADD VACCINE SITUATIONS. HOWEVER, we need to TAKE ACTION and do our part: We must participate in the PUBLIC COMMENT on the Federal Register by March 27, 2018. We need to make a request to “Expand the categories to include parents, students, and children to file complaints regarding vaccine situations.”

More U.S. Kids Landing in ICU From Opioids – A growing number of U.S. kids are ending up in the intensive care unit after overdosing on prescription painkillers or other opioids, a new study finds. Researchers found that between 2004 and 2015, the number of children and teens admitted to a pediatric intensive care unit for an opioid overdose nearly doubled. That included teenagers who’d abused the drugs, and young children who’d accidentally gotten hold of them. “These admissions are entirely preventable,” said lead researcher Dr. Jason Kane, of the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital. “These kids shouldn’t be there.” The findings, reported online March 5 in the journal Pediatrics, offer the latest look at the U.S. opioid epidemic

Get ready to learn things not traditionally taught to medical doctors!
Some of the things you will hear Dr. Buttar and Robert talk about in this week’s show are:

Experts warn not to link autism to violence after Florida shooting  – Autism experts are cautioning against linking the spectrum disorder to violence in the wake of the Parkland, Florida, shooting that killed 17. Several news media outlets included in their coverage of the attack that alleged shooter Nikolas Cruz, 19, had autism, but autism advocacy groups have been quick to say that the two aren’t related. “A massive shooting happens, and it’s a senseless act of violence,” said Dr. Karoly Mirnics, director of the Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. “As you are searching for answers, you start to notice differences.” If you haven’t interacted with people on the autism spectrum, you might jump to conclusions, the doctor said.

Vaccines on Trial: Michigan President of AAP Calls Catch-Up Vaccination “Torture” – IN OAKLAND COUNTY COURT, Michigan AAP President Teresa Holtrop, MD, FAAP testified this morning that a child who is forced to received multiple vaccines to come up to speed on the CDC pediatric vaccination schedule would be subjected to torture. “This poor child would have to be tortured” with multiple vaccines to come up to the vaccine schedule, she testified. (Specific quote: “Because this child has not been immunized, this poor child will have to tortured with six immunizations at one time.”) “It is the balance between whether you would put the child in pain, or don’t do it and put the child at risk” she said.

Scientists want to pull peer review out of the 17th century – The technology that drives science forward is forever accelerating, but the same can’t be said for science communication. The basic process still holds many vestiges from its early days — that is the 17th century. Some scientists are pressing to change that critical part of the scientific enterprise. Here’s what they’re confronting: When researchers studying the biology of disease make a discovery, it typically takes nine months for them to get their results published in a journal. one reason for that delay is it goes through a process of peer review that is both necessary and antiquated. The fate of that paper rests on just two or three scientists who have been asked to review it and decide whether it’s worthy of being published.

US panel recommends new adult vaccine against hepatitis B – A federal advisory panel on Wednesday recommended a new vaccine against hepatitis B. The vaccine, called Heplisav-B, was licensed for use in the U.S. in November and is the first new hepatitis B vaccine in 25 years. Hepatitis B vaccines have been in childhood shots for decades. But vaccination also is recommended for adults at high risk of infection, including people who inject drugs, health care workers and jail inmates. The new vaccine made by Dynavax Technologies Corp. is for adults and uses an additive that boosts the body’s immune response. It is given in two shots over a month. Experts hope that will improve vaccination rates, because other vaccines are given in a harder-to-complete regimen of three doses over six months.

The road to wisdom runs through hardship, study finds  – A famous Japanese proverb says, “Falldown seven times, and stand up eight,” implying that there is much to be gained from resilience in the face of obstacles. The idea that learning from hardship can help us to grow as people is one that spans centuries and continents. From movies to pop songs, there are endless works that tell us how our experiences — the difficult ones, in particular — might make us mentally stronger and wiser. Carolyn Aldwin, director of the Center for Healthy Aging Research in the College of Public Health and Human Sciences at Oregon State University in Corvallis, set out to investigate whether or not experiencing difficult life events adds to our wisdom.

Get ready to learn things not traditionally taught to medical doctors!
Some of the things you will hear Dr. Buttar and Robert talk about in this week’s show are:

She Survived Breast Cancer, But Says A Treatment Side Effect ‘Almost Killed’ Her – After Virginia Harrod was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in 2014, she had a double mastectomy. Surgeons also removed 16 lymph nodes from under her armpit and the area around her breast, to see how far the cancer had spread and to determine what further treatment might be needed. Then she underwent radiation therapy. As it turned out, the removal of those lymph nodes, along with the radiation, put Harrod at risk for another disorder — lymphedema, a painful and debilitating swelling of the soft tissue of the arms or legs, and/or an increased vulnerability to infection.

Los Alamos Study Finds Airport Scanners Alter DNA – Can we ever believe what our government tells us about airport security devices? Apparently not. First they told us those X-ray scanners (that showed way too many naked body parts) were perfectly safe. Even the manufacturer of the device, Rapidscan, openly admitted the scanners had not been adequately tested. The truth was later revealed that the safety tests turned out to be totally rigged, as reported by Natural News. With fabricated results, the technology was quickly rushed into every airport worldwide.  No one listened to what the scientists in the field of radiation were trying to tell them – it’s not safe.

Powassan, West Nile viruses cause Zika-like damage to fetuses – In 2016, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed that the Zika virus caused birth defects in babies born to women who had been infected while pregnant. This was the first mosquito-borne disease known to cause birth defects. Since then, images of babies with underdeveloped heads, born to pregnant women infected with Zika virus, have touched hearts around the world. Now, a study suggests that two viruses that are related to Zika can cause similar birth defects.

Are Many Modern Diseases Linked to the Failed Mass Swine Flu Vaccination in 1976? – Crohn’s. Lupus. Autism. ADHD. Food allergies. Celiac disease. Sjögren’s syndrome. Polymyalgia rheumatica. Multiple sclerosis. Anklyosing spondylitis. Type 1 diabetes. Vasculitis. Peripheral neuropathy. The list goes on, and on, and on. We are being increasingly diagnosed with these conditions and diseases of unknown origin, and science has very little to say – why would autoimmune diseases and mysterious diseases of inflammation be so prevalent? When did this increase start? As an observer and participant in modern biomedical research, and a lover of deep history, I tend to focus not on the immediate or last few years, but look for trends of accumulating risk over longer periods of time.

Scientists explore ties between Alzheimer’s and our immune system – Beer has fueled a lot of bad ideas. But on a Friday afternoon in 2007, it helped two Alzheimer’s researchers come up with a really a good one. Neuroscientists Robert Moir and Rudolph Tanzi were sipping Coronas in separate offices during “attitude adjustment hour” at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard’s largest teaching hospital. And, by chance, each scientist found himself wondering about an apparent link between Alzheimer’s disease and the immune system.

Some of the things you will hear Dr. Buttar and Robert talk about in this week’s show are:

Age is just a number: Having a positive attitude towards growing old can reduce risk of dementia – Older persons who have acquired positive beliefs about old age from their surrounding culture are less likely to develop dementia, a study has found. The research, published in the journal PLOS ONE, examined whether culture-based age beliefs influence the risk of developing dementia among older people, including those who carry the high-risk gene variant. “We found that positive age beliefs can reduce the risk of one of the most established genetic risk factors of dementia,” said Becca Levy from the Yale University in the US. “This makes a case for implementing a public health campaign against ageism, which is a source of negative age beliefs,” Levy said.

Ultrasound exams associated with autism in study, others say no – Ultrasound exams during pregnancy are common. And researchers have now looked at whether a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder is more likely among children exposed to this technology in the womb. There is no association between the number or duration of prenatal ultrasounds and a later diagnosis of autism in the child, according to a new study published Monday in JAMA Pediatrics. However, the researchers did find a statistical association between deep ultrasound wave penetration during the first and second trimesters and autism.

Dr. Mark Geier Wins Lawsuit Against Maryland Board of Physicians – A Maryland Circuit Court judge has ruled that the Maryland Board of Physicians, which stripped Dr. Mark Geier of his license to practice medicine back in 2011, acted illegally by humiliating Dr. Geier and his family publicly after they removed his medical license. In what is seen as an unprecedented action, Judge Ronald Rubin has ordered not only that $2.5 million in damages be awarded to the Geiers, but that half of that amount was to come out of the pockets of the members of the Maryland Board of Physicians, between $10,000 and $200,000 apiece, depending on their net worth.

Epigenetics study reveals environmental influences can change gene behaviour – In a study of pregnant women, a team of Deakin scientists has shown in humans for the first time that pregnancy can induce long-term epigenetic changes to our bodies, with major implications for understanding, preventing and treating disease. Deakin University scientists have discovered that pregnancy can cause long-term changes to the way ‘s genes behave, which could affect the future health of them and their children. The findings of a recent study from Deakin’s Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, within the School of Life and Environmental Sciences, showed women experience major molecular changes during pregnancy that could remain with them well after their pregnancy has ended.

Question of The Day!

Hi RSB, Super Don and Dr. Buttar!

I would like to try and ask Dr. Buttar a very important question regarding a sweet 12 year old girl, Josie, who has been battling autoimmune disease for the last year. I work with her mother and she is completely distraught watching her daughter have to go through this, understandably so.

It started with a diagnosis of Juvenile Arthritis where she has seen significant pain in her joints and general overall weakness. These symptoms seemed to come out of nowhere and prior to this, Josie was a healthy and very athletic little girl. She has been to a number of Dr.’s and been to the “best” hospitals to try and get her daughter better. She has tried a number of medicines that they have prescribed and nothing has worked. The latest diagnosis is that she has ‘Systemic Sclerosis’. She is a 12 year old girl that is down to 55 lbs. but her pain is down somewhat through the use of prescribed drugs. This is not a good sign in my opinion.

Based on my recommendation, she had her “silver” amalgams removed a couple of months ago as I believe that to be a great contributor to this “disease”. I have also recommended to Josie’s mother that she should go see Dr. Buttar and see if he can help. My question to Dr. Buttar (and her’s), is, has he dealt with anything like this in the past and is there anything he can do or recommend for this particular situation?

Josie’s mother is willing to visit but wants to know that your treatments are something that can help this disease.

Thank you for spending time answering this, it really is for a special little girl.

Ken

Some of the things you will hear Dr. Buttar and Robert talk about in this week’s show are:

Once Upon A Time There Were Aluminum-free Adjuvant Vaccines: What Happened? – Do you realize that aluminum adjuvants in vaccines do not require clinical approval? It’s the vaccine that gets approval—that’s the technicality as delineated by various independent vaccine researchers! That being said, aluminum is a nerve toxin with neurotoxic adverse effects and probable “cause and effect” associations for various diseases, most notably Multiple Sclerosis, where the myelin sheath is destroyed.

Doctors warn breast cancer treatment increases risk of heart disease – Patients who undergo breast cancer treatment are at a greater risk of heart disease, according to a recent warning from the American Heart Association. The warning was published Thursday, ahead of Friday’s “National Wear Red Day,” which encourages people to wear red to raise awareness about women’s risk of heart disease. Dr. Dharmesh Patel is a cardiologist at the Stern Cardiovascular Foundation in Southaven Miss., and board president of the Mid-South American Heart Association. “It’s very important we treat breast cancer,” Patel said. “But we have to understand that sometimes the treatments for breast cancer can actually affect the heart.”

Right to Try Bill: Why Doctors Are Pushing Back – Doctors and medical ethicists are criticizing a bill supported by President Donald Trump that would allow people with fatal illnesses to have access to drugs not yet approved by federal authorities. “Right to Try” is a policy that Trump mentioned during his State of the Union Addresson Jan. 30. “People who are terminally ill should not have to go from country to country to seek a cure — I want to give them a chance right here at home,” he said. “It is time for the Congress to give these wonderful Americans the ‘right to try.’”

Exposure to Bisphenol A ‘hard to avoid’ in everyday life – 86 per cent of teenagers have traces of Bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical compound used to make plastics, in their body, an Engaged Research public engagement project in collaboration with the University of Exeter has found. Measurable levels of BPA, an endocrine-disrupting chemical, were found in the urine of the vast majority of the 94 17-19 year olds tested, according to research at the University of Exeter led by Professor Lorna Harries, Associate Professor in Molecular Genetics, and Professor Tamara Galloway, Professor of Ecotoxicology.

Meditation has limited role in making you a better person, says study – For decades many people have claimed meditation can change how we behave towards others and make us more compassionate. But now new research has suggested meditation’s role in making individuals better people is limited. The study by scientists at Coventry University in the UK, Massey University in New Zealand, and Radboud University in the Netherlands, reviewed more than 20 studies that investigated the effect of various types of meditation, such as mindfulness and loving-kindness, on pro-social feelings and behaviors.

Some of the things you will hear Dr. Buttar and Robert talk about in this week’s show are:

Dr. Brownstein: Where Is Our Billion Dollars to Develop a Zika Vaccine? – Did you ever wonder what happened to Zika? You should, as our Government gave the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) $1.1 billion to study and develop a vaccine against Zika. Where did that money go and what happened to Zika? Recall that the Zika virus was making national headlines in 2016 as the CDC and other Powers-That-Be were claiming that Zika was responsible for the microcephaly epidemic that was occurring in one area of Brazil. I know many of you do not like the term “fake news.” (Trust me, I hear about it every time I use it, especially by my much older sister.) But, I can find no better way to describe the mainstream reporting Zika coverage by the media, which was being driven by the CDC.

2016 saw increase in birth defects potentially linked to Zika – From the first half of 2016 to the second half of 2016, there was an increase in the number of birth defects potentially related to Zika virus infection, according to research published in the Jan. 26 issue of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. Augustina Delaney, Ph.D., from the CDC in Atlanta, and colleagues analyzed data from 15 U.S. jurisdictions conducting population-based surveillance for potentially related to Zika virus infection. Overall, 2,962 infants and fetuses met the case definition (3.0 per 1,000 live births).

We tend to think of breast cancer sufferers as women over the age of 60 – yet this is a disease which can affect both women and men at any age. This month marks five years since Jon Baker, a 37-year old police officer from Runcorn, Cheshire, died of breast cancer. He had been diagnosed two years earlier, but not before he had visited his GP twice, complaining of a breast lump, and twice been sent away with antibiotics for an ingrowing hair. Even after breathlessness had taken him to hospital, he was sent back to the GP and it was only after five months – following Jon’s insistence on further investigation – that breast cancer was diagnosed. Contrary to popular belief, men can develop breast cancer too, whether they are young or old.

As flu blankets the nation, a new study links the virus to heart attacks – The flu doesn’t just cause aches, chills and debilitating fatigue. A new study shows it may also increase the risk of a heart attack. The Canadian study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, shows a six-fold increase in attacks shortly after people get the flu. “We found that your risk of a heart attack is six times higher in the first week after the diagnosis of influenza, which is a significant increase for that short period of time,” said Dr. Jeff Kwong, lead author of the study and a scientist at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences and Public Health Ontario. The study arrives in the middle of a particularly harsh flu season.

Trial to study water as treatment for polycystic kidney disease – Researchers in Australia are conducting a trial to determine whether a prescribed amount of water can reduce kidney failure in patients with polycistic kidney disease. The three-year randomized study in humans, called PREVENT-ADPKD, will investigate the use of water in treating adult polycystic kidney disease. The new study protocol, the first of its kind, was published in BMJ Open. ADPKD, an inherited disease, occurs when kidneys deteriorate because of cysts that destroy healthy tissue over time. ADPKD, the most common genetic kidney disease in adults, affects one in every 2,500 individuals.

Key to willpower, Diseases in older people will double, Flu vaccine, Liver cancer, Spasmodic dysphonia

Some of the things you will hear Dr. Buttar and Robert talk about in this week’s show are:

Key to willpower lies in believing you have it in abundance – Americans believe they have less stamina for strenuous mental activity than their European counterparts – an indication that people in the U.S. perceive their willpower or self-control as being in limited supply, a new study suggests. More than 1,100 Americans and 1,600 Europeans – including 775 Swiss and 871 German-speaking adults – participated in the study, which tested the validity of a widely used psychological assessment tool called the Implicit Theory of Willpower for Strenuous Mental Activities Scale.

Number of older people with four or more diseases will double by 2035, say researchers – A study published today in Age and Ageing, the scientific journal of the British Geriatrics Society, reports that the number of older people diagnosed with four or more diseases will double between 2015 and 2035. A third of these people will be diagnosed with dementia, depression or a cognitive impairment. The study, conducted by researchers at Newcastle University’s Institute for Ageing, found that over the next 20 years there will be a massive expansion in the number of people suffering from multiple diseases, known as multi-morbidity. As a result two-thirds of the life expectancy gains, predicted as 3.6 years for men, 2.9 years for women, will be spent with four or more diseases.
Science Being Ignored As Deaths from the Flu Continue to Mount Among Mass Flu Vaccinated Population – The U.S. is in the midst of one of the worst outbreaks of influenza in years, and in spite of the fact that the CDC is estimating that the flu vaccine is only about 10% effective, there are massive advertising campaigns in place to get the entire population vaccinated for the flu. Media reports are coming in reporting high rates of deaths due to the flu, and the majority of those dying from the flu have been vaccinated. (See: Flu Kills Eight Santa Barbara Residents in Two Weeks for one example where local media reports 7 of the 8 people who died from the flu were vaccinated for the flu.) The flu shot is not without severe risks, risks that are routinely censored in the corporate “mainstream” media, and includeparalysis from Guillain-Barré Syndrome, chronic shoulder pain from SIRVA, and death. It is, by far, the most dangerous vaccine in America.

Questions of The Day!

#1

Hello Robert,

This is an urgent matter. My uncle in India is diagnosed with liver cancer, and prescribed with medication Sorafenib. I would like to know from Dr. Buttar about the effectiveness and side effects of this med. This med was prescribed in order to stop the progression of tumours, as they found tumours in the liver in the scan. I also want to know about good treatment options, any good doctor in South India? My uncle has heart problems, and he is diabetic too. He is already on Sorafenib for a week. He has developed a fever after taking this med.
If he decides to stop this, does he have to do it gradually or can he stop it at once? Among the other meds which meds are probable to cause more harm than good?

The other meds he takes are Pantoprazole 40 mgx2
Aspirin and Rosuvastalin
Teneligliptin 20mg
Okamet 500mg
Silodosin
Evion LC
Pregaba 50mg
H.Astrapid injection

I have listened to Truth about Cancer series, and sent them suggestions based on it.

Thank you,
Sumayya
