‘Forgotten organs’ may hold clues to new type-2 diabetes treatment, Unhealthy gut promotes spread of breast cancer, Pertussis vaccine a significant contributor to whooping cough outbreaks, Chickenpox Vaccine Shields Against Shingles
Waning potency of pertussis vaccine a significant contributor to recent whooping cough outbreaks – In a large new Kaiser Permanente study, children who were up to date on their pertussis vaccine schedule were far less likely to develop the disease than unvaccinated children. However, most pertussis cases were in fully vaccinated children. The risk of vaccinated children becoming ill increased with the time since vaccination, suggesting that waning effectiveness between doses was a significant contributor to recent outbreaks. The study, “Acellular Pertussis Vaccine Effectiveness Over Time,” was published on June 10 in the journal Pediatrics. Pertussis, widely known as whooping cough, is a highly contagious and potentially life-threatening respiratory infection caused by the bacterium Bordetella pertussis. To help prevent it, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends five doses of DTaP vaccine—a combination vaccine that protects against pertussis, diphtheria, and tetanus—between the ages of two months and six years.

Some of the things you will hear Dr. Buttar and Robert talk about in this week’s show are:
Could Tolerating Disease Be Better than Fighting It? – About a year ago, some—but not all—of the mice in Janelle Ayres’s lab at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla, California, got really sick. Ayres and her colleagues had infected each of the animals with the pathogenic bacterium Citrobacter rodentium, and within a few days, some of the mice began losing weight. Their colons became severely inflamed, and the animals died not long after. But other mice that were also exposed to the bacterium looked perfectly healthy. All the mice were genetically identical. They were fed the same food, kept in the same kinds of cages, and had no notable differences in the composition of their microbiomes. “Yet half the animals died, and the other half survived,” exactly what she was aiming for, Ayres tells The Scientist. This type of experiment is called “lethal dose 50,” the level at which the dose of a toxin or pathogen kills half of the population that’s been exposed. Ayres was running the experiment to determine what causes genetically identical mice to respond differently to the same pathogen. Scientists using the protocol typically assumed that susceptible mice had more-severe infections—that random events drove up the number of pathogenic bacteria and this caused them to die—while surviving animals got lucky and managed to keep pathogen numbers low. But when Ayres tested her mice, levels of bacteria in the gut and other tissues were the same in both groups.
Breastfeeding moms’ milk can transfer life-long protection against infection to their babies – Previously, it was generally thought that immunity against illness is passed from mum to baby for only the period they are breastfed and this protection ends when breastfeeding stops. It was also thought that this immunity was transferred by a mother’s proteins such as antibodies that are used by the immune system to neutralize bacteria and viruses. However, research in mice by scientists published today in Science Advances, has found that the transfer of immunity can be long-term, beyond the period of breastfeeding. They also found that this protection was driven by the transfer of immune cells and was completely independent of antibodies. The research found that infant mice breastfed by a mother who had a worm infection before becoming pregnant acquired life-long protection against this infection. Unexpectedly, this effect was passed onto the infants by cells in the mother’s milk and not proteins such as antibodies. These transferred cells provided protection from worm infection throughout the body to the infant. This work shows that mothers exposed, even before pregnancy, to a globally prevalent source of infection provides long-term breastfeeding-acquired immunity to infection in their infants.
15 Facts about Measles the Mainstream Media Won’t Tell You – The mainstream corporate media have been in hysteria mode about measles, as have federal, state, county, and municipal governments. Every article you read essentially reiterates the same talking points: measles is a deadly disease, the vaccine is very effective and very safe, and “anti-vaxxers” are a threat to society because they are so dangerously ignorant about the science. Yet parents doing their own research are well aware of how simplistic and downright deceptive the mainstream narrative is. The media refuse to even scratch the surface of the subject and engage in public policy advocacy — i.e., propaganda — rather than properly educating the public about what science actually tells us. So here are 15 scientific facts about measles and the measles vaccine that you aren’t being told by the government or mainstream media
It’s a Mindset: In Order to Get Fit, You Must THINK of Yourself as Fit – If you know you’re not as physically active as you should be, stop thinking about it and start doing something about it. People who view themselves as lazy compared to others are more likely to die at a younger age, even if their actual activity levels were the same. That means people who thought they were less active than their peers likely weren’t reaping the full benefits of exercise, all because of their negative attitude. Lead author Octavia Zahrt, a Stanford PhD student in organizational behavior, says she knows firsthand how negative self-talk and toxic comparisons can make a solid effort seem lazy. She explained: “I am from Germany, and back there I felt really good about my activity level. I biked to work, and went to the gym maybe once a week.” Zahrt says that when she moved to California, she was suddenly “surrounded by people who exercise all the time. Compared to them I felt really inactive, and I developed what I know now was a really negative mindset about my physical activity.”

Some of the things you will hear Dr. Buttar and Robert talk about in this week’s show are:
Monsanto Has Been Ordered To Pay More Than $2 Billion – To A Couple With Cancer A California jury awarded $2 billion on Monday to an elderly couple that developed non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma after years of using Monsanto’s popular weed killer Roundup, delivering a major blow to the agrochemical giant. The jury found the company failed to warn consumers that Roundup could cause cancer, attorneys said, dealing the company its third major loss in court in a series of lawsuits claiming the herbicide was behind the development of cancer. “Two billion dollars in punitive damages is as clear a statement as you can get that they [Monsanto] have to change what they’re doing,” Brent Wisner, who represented Alva and Alberta Pilliod, said in at a press conference. “Monsanto needs to change its conduct.” A spokesperson for Bayer, the parent company for Monsanto, told BuzzFeed News the company believed the $2 billion punitive judgment was “excessive and unjustifiable” and it planned to appeal the decision. “Bayer is disappointed with the jury’s decision and will appeal the verdict in this case,” the company said.
For people with strong life purpose, making healthier choices may be less effortful, new study shows – Ever wonder how some people seem to meet their fitness goals with ease and love eating healthy foods while others constantly struggle to do either? According to a new study from the Communication Neuroscience Lab at the Annenberg School, people with stronger life purpose are more likely to accept messages promoting health behavior change than those with a weaker sense of purpose. And this might be because they experience less decisional conflict while considering health advice. “Purpose in life has been robustly associated with health in previous studies,” says postdoctoral fellow Yoona Kang, lead author of the study, “but the mechanism through which life purpose may promote healthy living has been unclear.” For this study, published in Health Psychology, Kang and her co-authors chose to test out a theory: that making health decisions might take less effort for those with higher sense of purpose in life. According to Kang, health decisions, even those as simple and mundane as choosing between the elevator and the stairs, involve some amount of decisional conflict. But what if some people experience less conflict than others when considering these options, perhaps because they have a stronger guiding purpose that helps resolve the conflicts?
Being wise is good for your health—review looks at emerging science of wisdom – Can science measure what it means to be wise? A growing body of evidence suggests that wisdom is a complex concept that contributes to mental health and happiness, according to a review in the May/June issue of Harvard Review of Psychiatry. Different aspects of wisdom may be traced to specific areas of the brain, and might possibly be enhanced by behavioral interventions, suggests the article by Dilip V. Jeste, MD, and Ellen E. Lee, MD, of the Sam and Rose Stein Institute for Research on Aging, University of California San Diego. They write, “Wisdom has important implications at both individual and societal levels, and warrants further research as a major contributor to human thriving.” What is wisdom? While it has been discussed in religion and philosophy for centuries, scientific research on wisdom has accelerated in the past few decades. While it may seem impossible to define and measure wisdom, Drs. Jeste and Lee note that research has demonstrated the validity of other psychological constructs such as consciousness, stress, and resilience. Based on an in-depth review from ancient writings to modern times, Drs. Jeste and Lee propose that wisdom can be defined as “a complex human trait with several specific components: social decision making, emotion regulation, prosocial behaviors, self-reflection, acceptance of uncertainty, decisiveness, and spirituality.” Over the years, several approaches to measuring wisdom have been proposed, although each has its limitations.
Questions of The Day!
RSB and Dr. B,
My fiance and I are on a diet. We are actually fasting similar to what Dr. Buttar is doing. But, we are also trying to drink the appropriate amount of water our body needs. I am a 180lb guy (I’m short) and have been trying to drink approximately 100 ounces of filtered water/day from my Berkey. Now to the issue, my mom hears all the stories that to much water is bad for you. And on top of that, I only have one kidney. Is there such a thing as too much water if I only have one kidney?
Thanks, as always, for all you both do for everyone!!!
Mike in Louisville
Hi Robert – I am hoping you will have Dr. Buttar on your program today. I have a friend who is facing breast cancer. Her question is: what kinds of tests does Dr. Buttar perform during his prescribed treatments that show that the treatments are actually effective? My friend has done natural medicine and diet for many years. She is very informed and is considering contacting Dr. Buttar to receive his help with her cancer. She lives in Florida. Thanks.

Some of the things you will hear Dr. Buttar and Robert talk about in this week’s show are:
Millennials’ health plummets after the age of 27: Study finds the generation has unprecedented rates of diabetes, depression, and digestive disorders It’s all downhill from 27, new research reveals. At least if you’re a millennial, chronic conditions and diseases start to rear their heads in your late-20s, and from there things continue to deteriorate, according to a new Blue Cross Blue Shield report. Millennials, as a generation, are in overall poorer health than their predecessors, Gen X-ers, with higher rates of depression, hyperactivity, substance misuse, type 2 diabetes and Crohn’s disease, among other chronic conditions. The report authors warn that the healthcare community needs to be aware that millennials are facing growing and perhaps unprecedented health concerns that could cost them years of life and cost the US economy money and productivity.
Chemotherapy demand will rise 50% by 2040, study says – Global cancer cases are expected to climb drastically over the next 20 years, leading to a high demand for chemotherapy, a new study says. By 2040, the number of people worldwide who will need chemotherapy to treat cancer could grow to 15 million, according to new research published Wednesday in the Lancet. That would be a 53 percent increase from 9.8 million in 2018. “The rising global cancer burden is undoubtedly one of the major health crises of today,” Brooke Wilson, a researcher at the University of New South Wales who authored the study, said in a news release. “Strategies are urgently needed to equip the global health workforce to enable safe treatment of current and future patients.” To calculate these numbers, the researchers applied clinical best practices guidelines, cancer stage numbers and other data from the United States and Australia to global cases of pediatric and adult cancer estimates. By 2040, lung, breast and colorectal cancers will account for more than 40 percent of the chemotherapy requirements worldwide, the researchers say.
2018 saw more employed physicians than self-employed – In 2018, employed physicians outnumbered self-employed physicians, according to a report from the American Medical Association (AMA). Researchers from the AMA used data from the Physician Practice Benchmark Surveys to identify the practice arrangements of physicians between 2012 and 2018. Information was collected on employment status, practice type, practice size, and practice ownership structure. According to the report, 2018 was the first year that fewer patient care physicians had ownership in their practice than were employees (45.9 versus 47.4 percent). The percent of physicians who were owners dropped from 53.2 in 2012. Younger physicians and women were less likely to be owners. From 2012 to 2018, the percentage of physicians in solo practice decreased from 18.4 to 14.8 percent. Although most physicians still work in small practices, this share has decreased since 2012. In 2018, 54.0 percent of physicians continued to work in practices wholly owned by physicians, although this proportion decreased from 60.1 percent in 2012. The share of physicians working directly for a hospital or in a practice at least partially owned by a hospital increased (from 29.0 to 34.7 percent).
Anger more harmful to health of older adults than sadness – Anger may be more harmful to an older person’s physical health than sadness, potentially increasing inflammation, which is associated with such chronic illnesses as heart disease, arthritis and cancer, according to new research published by the American Psychological Association. “As most people age, they simply cannot do the activities they once did, or they may experience the loss of a spouse or a decline in their physical mobility and they can become angry,” said Meaghan A. Barlow, MA, of Concordia University, lead author of the study, which was published in Psychology and Aging. “Our study showed that anger can lead to the development of chronic illnesses, whereas sadness did not.” Barlow and her co-authors examined whether anger and sadness contributed to inflammation, an immune response by the body to perceived threats, such as infection or tissue damage. While inflammation in general helps protect the body and assists in healing, long-lasting inflammation can lead to chronic illnesses in old age, according to the authors.

Some of the things you will hear Dr. Buttar and Robert talk about in this week’s show are:
Possible link between autism and antidepressants use during pregnancy – An international team led by Duke-NUS Medical School has found a potential link between autistic-like behaviour in adult mice and exposure to a common antidepressant in the womb. They also identified a treatment that helped improve memory loss and social interactions, according to the new study published in the journal Molecular Brain. Antidepressants are commonly prescribed for treating major depression and post-traumatic stress disorder, including in pregnant women. One of the most commonly prescribed antidepressants is fluoxetine, a serotonin reuptake inhibitor. Fluoxetine can cross the placenta and is also detected in breast milk. Little is known about its safety during pregnancy, and not enough studies have been conducted on its long-term effects on offspring.
..
‘Microbiome’ May Be Key to Autism Symptoms – The belly-brain connection is gaining traction in autism research. And a new study suggests gut bacteria may play a role in the disorder or some of its symptoms. Although this research is in its infancy, it’s hoped that someday scientists might tweak the gut bacteria to ease digestive symptoms of autism spectrum disorder. The latest step in this direction comes from Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. Researchers there compared kids with autism, their unaffected siblings and typically developing kids of the same ages. The investigators found that clear differences emerged in the children’s microbiome — the collection of microbes that normally live in the human gut. “We saw the biggest differences in the autism group who had gastrointestinal symptoms,” said the study’s lead author, Ruth Ann Luna. She’s director of medical metagenomics at the hospital and an assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine.

UK Health Secretary Wants Mandatory Vaccines, Says Anti-Vaxxers ‘Have Blood On Their Hands’ – A British parliament member is calling out those who speak against vaccines saying “they have blood on their hands.” The comments come amid fears that world governments could evoke “emergency mandatory vaccine mandates,” something the politician hints at supporting. Matt Hancock says he “won’t rule out” compulsory vaccines. The Health Secretary, speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, said, “I do think we need to consider all options. Failure to vaccinate when there isn’t a good reason is wrong. Those people who campaign against vaccination are campaigning against science. The science is settled.” Newly released Unicef statistics show that over half a million kids in the U.K. did not receive a measles vaccine between 2010 and 2017. Many are blaming anti-vaccine messages conveyed on social media as the culprit. “I don’t want to have to reach the point of compulsory vaccination, but I will rule nothing out. I don’t want to reach that point and I don’t think we are near there, but there is a huge programme of work to increase the proportion of children that are vaccinated.” Hancock went on to say.
..
Confirmed: Sweating Removes Deadly Chemicals From The Body – In a day and age where chemical and radiation exposures from industrial pollution are ubiquitous and virtually unavoidable, it behooves us all to find ways to minimize exposure to them as well as to reduce their complex toxicities. But how do we begin the process of detoxifying vis-a-vis exposure to tens of thousands of novel new synthetic compounds that have been introduced into the environment over the past century, and by virtue of that fact, have been accumulating in our bodies since we’ve been in the womb? Just so the reader gets a sense for the true magnitude of the problem, I will refer back to an article I wrote in 2012 entitled, “Crude Awakening: Mineral Oil Contaminates Everyone’s Bodies,” wherein I reported on how petroleum-derived ingredients in cosmetics and even foods are accumulating in our bodies and causing profound adverse health issues

Doctors who are kind have healthier patients who heal faster, according to new book – Which doctor would you pick: a physician who is kind and warm, or one who is cold but graduated at the top of the class in medical school? A new book makes a strong argument for the ones who are kind and warm, not just because they’re more pleasant, but because they have better patient outcomes. “Compassionomics: The Revolutionary Scientific Evidence That Caring Makes a Difference,” written by physician-scientist team Stephen Trzeciak and Anthony Mazzarelli, provides overwhelming evidence for the healing power of compassion. Kindness brings longer, healthier lives not only for patients, the book argues, but also for health-care professionals. When a physician is compassionate, patients heal better and faster, and the doctors are happier and less burned out. Trzeciak is chair of medicine at New Jersey’s Cooper University Health Care and Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, and Mazzarelli is co-president and associate dean of clinical affairs there. The authors share their research on the art of healing. This conversation has been condensed and edited for clarity.

Some of the things you will hear Dr. Buttar and Robert talk about in this week’s show are:
Vaccine Strain Measles from MMR Vaccine? – There have been at least two reported cases of children with measles in the United States this year that have turned out not to have been wild-type measles after all. The two cases involve children in Oakland County and Washtenaw County, Michigan. Both children had exhibited symptoms of measles and initially tested positive for the measles virus. However, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services conducted additional genotype lab testing of the virus identified in the children’s blood and determined that it was actually the attenuated (weakened) vaccine strain measles virus from the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine the children had recently received. In other words, the symptoms observed in the children by health officials were reactions to the MMR vaccine. The children did not have wild-type measles infections, as originally diagnosed and reported. According to a news report by the Detroit Free Press, “The MMR vaccine can sometimes cause a mild rash and fever. That, health officials say, is a vaccine reaction, not the measles, and people who’ve been immunized are not infectious after vaccination.”
..
No Mercy for Mothers Or Their Vaccine Injured Children – Today, parents whose children have been injured by vaccines are being demonized and discriminated against for speaking publicly about what happened to their children after vaccination. There is no other minority in America being subjected to public humiliation and censorship for simply speaking the truth. Pediatricians are also cruelly bullying and coercing mothers into giving vaccines to sick children already struggling with vaccine injuries that have compromised their health. These mothers are desperately trying to protect their children from further harm by refusing to give them more vaccines. Yet, many pediatricians are showing no mercy and insisting on implementing one-size-fits-all government vaccine policy regardless of the risk to these vulnerable children’s lives. Vaccines are pharmaceutical products that carry two risks: a risk of harm and a risk of failure and those risks can be greater for some people because we are not all the same. Even though there are vaccine science knowledge gaps and doctors cannot accurately predict who is more susceptible to being harmed by vaccination, some state lawmakers are also determined to force implementation of one-size-fits-all federal vaccine policies that recognize few contraindications to vaccination qualifying for a medical exemption.
..
The glass half-full: How optimism can bias prognosis in serious illness – Most people think of optimism as a good thing—a positive outlook in challenging circumstances. But in reality, it’s a psychological state that can be “contagious” in a bad way. A new study, published in the journal Psycho-Oncology, details how a seriously ill patient’s optimism can impact a clinician’s survival prognosis in palliative care conversations. Senior author Robert Gramling, M.D., D.Sc., associate professor of family medicine and the Miller Chair in Palliative Medicine at the University of Vermont’s Larner College of Medicine, and colleagues at Purdue University, the University of Rochester and University of California San Francisco, state that clinicians have a duty to estimate prognosis as accurately as possible. If survival is overestimated, Gramling and his coauthors write, “these errors in judgment can prevent patients from making timely decisions about their end-of-life care.” For their study, the researchers enrolled 189 hospital patientswith advanced cancer undergoing palliative care consultations at two geographically distant sites. A total of 41 palliative care clinicians participated in the recorded consultations.

Some of the things you will hear Dr. Buttar and Robert talk about in this week’s show are:
Lead screening guidelines for children, pregnant women changed by task force Should children and pregnant women be screened for elevated lead levels if they don’t show symptoms? Doctors are working to determine if so and how often. “The current evidence is insufficient” to support such screening, according to the recommendations from the US Preventive Services Task Force, published in the medical journal JAMA on Tuesday. The task force is an independent group of national experts in medicine who make recommendations that affect clinical practice.
Hello RSB, Super Don, and Dr. Buttar!
I have been getting annual thermograms instead of doing mammograms. During my last visit, the consultant noticed an area between my shoulder blades was highlighted green and she suggested that it may have something to do with gallbladder congestion. She referred me to the Miracle Gallbladder and Liver Cleanse book and protocall by Andreas Moritz. I read the book and did the flush 4 months in a row and seemed to have textbook results which consisted of small pea green “stones” exiting my body. There is a lot of praise for this protocall, but there seems to be an equal amount of skeptcsism about whether or not these are actually gall and liver stones or if they are a by product of the olive oil that is ingested the night before. I was hoping to get your opinions on this cleanse before I go forward with another round. It’s not exactly how I want to spend a weekend, but I will continue if it is worth it. Thank You so much! Johnna T.
Hi guys, recently had a scan done and was told I had a fatty liver, now as far as I know the liver can regenerate but what I don’t know is how to facilitate the regeneration of it, hoping you can help RSB, thanks and keep doing the good work
Declan
Hi Robert – thanks for all the awesome work you do. Recently I came across the Medical Medium’s work regarding Hashimoto’s and other “mystery” chronic conditions arising from undiagnosed, latent viruses. I must agree that I never believed the explanation that the “body turns against itself” – that’s just stupid. But the virus idea makes a lot of sense. So, we step up the use of anti-viral foods – namely fruits and vegetables – and herbs, teas, tinctures. But I also thought of silver hydrosol, and so my question to you is what you think the best way would be to get Sovereign Silver to the thyroid — topically (as in a gel application) and/or orally (swish it around in the mouth) ??

Some of the things you will hear Dr. Buttar and Robert talk about in this week’s show are:
Human health can be ‘mostly sustained’ for a year in space, NASA Twins Study concludes – Spending 340 days aboard the International Space Station between 2015 and 2016 caused changes in astronaut Scott Kelly’s body, from his weight down to his genes, according to the results of the NASA Twins Study, released Thursday. The majority of changes that occurred in Kelly’s body, compared with his identical brother, Mark, on Earth, returned to normal once he came back from the space station. The study results suggest that human health can be “mostly sustained” for a year in space, the researchers said. On a call with reporters Thursday, Mark thanked Scott for his service to the country and commitment to science by spending a year in space without knowing how it would affect him. “I got all the glory, and you got all the work,” Scott said, chiding his twin. “And I got people coming to my house for tubes of blood,” Mark replied in reference to the scientific samples taken during Scott’s mission; Scott was collecting the same samples from himself to send back to researchers on Earth.

Statistics Link Rise of “Vaccine-preventable” Diseases to Increased Vaccination Rates – As mass hysteria regarding the so-called ‘measles epidemic’ appears to be breaking out around the world, we need to ask ourselves whether or not this perceived epidemic is as bad as the corporate mainstream media has painted it. If it is, then are the vaccinations manufactured to protect our children against the measles and other illnesses really working? During our research, we discovered that, despite many countries around the world mandating vaccines, there has been a substantial rise in the numbers of ‘vaccine preventable’ diseases being reported. In February 2019, Science Direct published a paper titled Measles outbreaks in Italy: A paradigm of the re-emergence of vaccine-preventable diseases in developed countries. The paper, written by Alessandro Siani, outlined the fact that, in 2017, there had been a significant rise in numbers of measles cases, in both Romania and Italy, two countries where the MMR vaccine had been mandated.

Latest studies show 1 in 59 children lives with autism – New numbers show 1 in 59 children live with autism. Now, the largest study of its kind is in search of breakthrough treatments, to help families thrive. As part of Autism Awareness month, Molly Shen looks at the research in this week’s Sinclair Cares report. Five-year-old Kiernan, six-year-old Malachai and 19-year-old Skyler. Skylar and Kiernan are confirmed to have autism, their brother Malachai is in the process of being diagnosed and is likely also on the spectrum. Most people with autism spectrum disorder have social, communication, and other challenges. “It’s kind of a bombshell. You know, it blindsides you the first time you hear that. It’s, what did I do wrong?,” said mother, Kami Denison. “You always wonder why something like that happens to you,” said father, Lance Denison.

Half of people prescribed statins don’t reach cholesterol goals after two years, study says – Half of all people who are prescribed statins for the prevention of heart disease fail to reach target cholesterol levels two years later, according to a new study. Researchers used data submitted to the UK Clinical Practice Research Datalink by 681 family doctors. The study group was made up of 165,411 people who were prescribed a statin between 1990 and 2016 and who had not been treated for heart disease or stroke before the prescription. They defined an “appropriate” response to statin therapy as a reduction of 40% or more in LDL or “bad” cholesterol, as recommended by the UK’s National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. Fewer than half of all people enrolled over the 26-year study period — 48.8% — achieved target cholesterol levels at the two-year followup mark, with just over half — 51.2% — falling short, according to the study, published Monday in the journal Heart.

Some of the things you will hear Dr. Buttar and Robert talk about in this week’s show are:
Funding halted for Professor Chris Exley, who links vaccines to autism – A controversial British academic who claims childhood vaccines can cause autism has been blocked from raising research funds after protests by other scientists. Professor Chris Exley, of Keele University, infuriated health experts by telling parents the aluminium in vaccines given to babies to protect them from diseases such as whooping cough, and in the human papillomavirus vaccine given to teenagers, may cause “severe and disabling” autism. It echoes the “anti-vax” controversy surrounding Andrew Wakefield, whose 1998 claim that the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine caused autism led to a fall in immunisation rates. Supporters of Exley, a professor of bioinorganic chemistry, turned to crowd-funding site GoFundMe to raise cash after his grant applications were refused by scientific research councils. Now the site has also rejected him. “Campaigns raising money to promote misinformation about vaccines violate GoFundMe’s terms of service and we are removing them,” it said.

The Army Thought He Was Faking His Health Issues. Turns Out He Had Chronic Lead Poisoning – At age 30, Stephen Hopkins was back in the Army for a second time. After serving as an enlisted soldier from 1991 to 1995, he returned as an officer in 2000. He was a man who routinely maxed fitness tests and endured physical hardship while deployed to rural locales in Afghanistan. Selected for Special Forces training, Hopkins tackled the demanding courses with gusto, later returning to combat for a total of seven deployments. He had a job he loved and excelled at, and his star was ascending. But in 2005, Hopkins began experiencing wild swings in blood pressure. And he had other symptoms: crippling nausea, constant dizziness, a skyrocketing heart rate. He was given a diagnosis of common high blood pressure, and for a while he felt better by keeping himself on a high dose of a medication for that condition. He was on deployment in Afghanistan when the nausea returned, with migraine symptoms, abnormal thirst and muddled thinking. Medical tests were inconclusive, leading military doctors and commanders to suspect depression, post-traumatic stress disorder or, worse, “malingering” — the medical term for soldiers who feign sickness to shirk duty.

Deadly germs, Lost cures: A Mysterious Infection, Spanning the Globe in a Climate of Secrecy – Last May, an elderly man was admitted to the Brooklyn branch of Mount Sinai Hospital for abdominal surgery. A blood test revealed that he was infected with a newly discovered germ as deadly as it was mysterious. Doctors swiftly isolated him in the intensive care unit. The germ, a fungus called Candida auris, preys on people with weakened immune systems, and it is quietly spreading across the globe. Over the last five years, it has hit a neonatal unit in Venezuela, swept through a hospital in Spain, forced a prestigious British medical center to shut down its intensive care unit, and taken root in India, Pakistan and South Africa . Recently C. auris reached New York , New Jersey and Illinois, leading the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to add it to a list of germs deemed “urgent threats.” The man at Mount Sinai died after 90 days in the hospital, but C. auris did not. Tests showed it was everywhere in his room, so invasive that the hospital needed special cleaning equipment and had to rip out some of the ceiling and floor tiles to eradicate it.

Is the ‘sugar rush’ a myth? – It will have escaped nobody’s attention that sugar consumption across the United States has skyrocketed. In particular, sugar-sweetened soft drinks have taken off. From the late 1970s to the early 2000s, energy intake from sugary drinks increased by 135 percent. A study using data that researchers collected during 1988–1994 and 1999–2000 found that the number one contributor of energy intake for both periods was soft drinks. Although the causes of obesity are complex, it is not a stretch to imagine that sugar-sweetened beverages play a significant role. Adverts for sugar-sweetened drinks often infer that they will boost mood and combat fatigue. This claim is likely to influence buyers, so understanding how accurate these claims are is important.

Get ready to learn things not traditionally taught to medical doctors!
Some of the things you will hear Dr. Buttar and Robert talk about in this week’s show are:
How to reduce your exposure to heavy metals – Every day, you are exposed to heavy metals, such as lead, arsenic, and mercury, that can harm your health. You may not completely eliminate toxins in the environment, but you can take steps to minimize your exposure. Here are some ways:
Evaluate your daily food choices: One of the most common causes of heavy metal exposure is from the foods you eat. There are certain foods that are known to be at higher risk for containing heavy metals. These include fish like tuna, king mackerel, marlin, shark, swordfish, and tilefish, rice, and bone broth. Mercury is commonly found in large, predatory fish, arsenic is typically found in rice, and lead is usually found in bone broth. This does not necessarily mean that you should completely avoid these foods, but you should choose the right ones. Cooking rice in a coffee pot can lower its arsenic content, but cooking bones to make bone broth won’t because bones store lead.
Eat detoxifying foods: There are also foods that can protect you from heavy metals. Include foods like cruciferous vegetables, fiber, phytates, probiotics, cilantro, and black sesame seeds to your diet. These foods help eliminate heavy metals from the body.
Gastrointestinal complaints in children could signal future mental health problems -A Columbia University study has found that adversity early in life is associated with increased gastrointestinal symptoms in children that may have an impact on the brain and behavior as they grow to maturity. The study was published online March 28 in the journal Development and Psychopathology. “One common reason children show up at doctors’ offices is intestinal complaints,” said Nim Tottenham, a professor of psychology at Columbia and senior author on the study. “Our findings indicate that gastrointestinal symptoms in young children could be a red flag to primary care physicians for future emotional health problems.” Scientists have long noted the strong connection between the gut and brain.Previous research has demonstrated that a history of trauma or abuse has been reported in up to half of adults with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), at a prevalence twice that of patients without IBS.
Question of The Day!
I need specific suggestions, how to heal from HCV and cirrhosis. I currently began the standard protocol of anti-viral therapy. It totally goes against what I have believed about health and healing. However after 10 yrs. post diagnosis of the HCV with no results and the additional diagnosis of cirrhosis (feb.2019) I felt scared and decided to begin the therapy. I am willing to abandon it, If I can be directed to a complete protocol to begin.
